Grammy Awards Performance: Casts of Cirque du Soleil LOVE and Across the Universe

Cirque du SoleilWhat They Sang: The cast of LOVE didn’t sing. They performed to “A Day in the Life”. The group from Across the Universe sang Let it Be.

How They Looked: The cast of LOVE handled themselves incredibly well. To be honest, they made me want to see the show more than I ever did before. Everyone was in sync and doing their thing. It was awesome considering despite them all doing different moves they all blended together in perfection.

It is easy to see why Across the Universe is a social commentary. As the young male singer gave a solid performance, the stage was filled with images of war, funeral processions, and destruction. The full choir with the younger boy from the cast was truly phenomenal despite my normally despising any remakes or tributes to this amazing band.

Performance Value: This performance by LOVE just goes to show how amazing The Beatles were and how missed their talent really is on today’s stage. No current band can match the political, emotional, and creative climate that The Beatles evoked with pure charm and grace. The LOVE performance was beautiful to watch.

The performance was breathtaking. I don’t know what was more powerful, the singing or the background images. I ended up stopping in the middle of this to just watch and take it in. It has the ability to floor you if you let it. The peace signs at the end really do say it all. The Beatles said it best when they said “Let it Be”.

Star Value (1 = Worst, 5= Best): 5

Ashtyn is definitely the casual gamer in the family. A game fan since she owned an Atari, Ashtyn can remember when her brother rigged the television so he wouldn’t lose his Super Mario Bros. game. That is, until the power went out! A fan of all things Mario, Ashtyn is a Nintendo loyalist. She digs playing Mario-style RPG games, watching others play violent shooters (because she sucks at them), and playing casual PC games (like Wedding Dash and Cake Mania). As of now, she is into the Wii and Nintendo DS, though she’s certain the games for PS3 and Xbox 360 are more appealing.
