I can already see Kanye plotting and writing out his hit list. At the top of the list are three men, who all seem to potentially be new enemies of Kanye. First, there’s Vince Gill. Vince just happened to win Best Country Album. The award, which was presented by Ringo Starr, was a big honor for Gill. He just had to get in a jab at Kanye, who is known for his prissy behavior and whiny tantrums at award shows.
After going on stage, Gill looked at Ringo, then at Kanye. With a grin on his face and a joyous sound in his voice, Vince spoke directly to Kanye as he said, “I just had an award given to me by a Beatle. Have you had that happen yet, Kanye?”
As the audience burst into laughter, and Gill chuckled with Ringo on-stage, a tight-lipped Kanye knew the camera was bound to be on him as he tried to force out a smile. That was the first dig at Kanye and a sign that the stars of the music world aren’t going to continue to put up with Kanye’s crap.
The second person I can see on Kanye’s hit list is Usher. When the award for Album of the Year was being announced, Usher got in his own dig, when after announcing who was nominated (Kanye, Herbie Hancock, Foo Fighters, Amy Winehouse, etc.) he looked at Kanye and said something like “everybody’s a winner, Kanye”. This got roars of laughter from the audience and was just part of a major jab at Kanye, who didn’t end up winning the award.
That brings us to #3 on the potential Kanye West hit list. In a shocking turn of events, Jazz legend, Herbie Hancock took home the Grammy for album of the year, much to Kanye’s chagrin. While there have yet to be any reports, I do hope Kanye didn’t get into a brawl with Herbie, Usher, and Vince Gill in the parking lot, because honestly, I think Vince could take him on his own!
