5. Tom Clancy’s Endwar – Tom Clancy is back with a brand new video game, and I want it. This is one of the games I’ve been dying to get my hands on, as it is most likely the most disability friendly video game to date. The innovative actions through voice command option is intriguing and made this game worthy of being in the Top Ten must have games, of 2008.
This real-time tactics game looks at the possibility of ending a threat of nuclear war and the danger of nations not being invited to participate in ridding the world of nuclear weapons. With significant emphasis on the E.U. and U.S. powers versus that of Russia and the Middle East, Tom Clancy might just be predicting the future of the world. You can play this game on a wide variety of platforms including PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, PSP and PC.
Pick up your copy at Amazon for $39.99.
4. James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace – Of all the games I’ve been given the chance to review, I’ve played this game more than any. This game was not very high on this list until I received it for review recently. Stay tuned for an upcoming review of James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace on Gamerrazzi. All I can keep stressing is how absolutely awesome this game is. It’s the most exciting “based on a movie” game I’ve played in a long time.
You play as James Bond (through scenes based from the films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), as you travel the world in search of the Quantum members, the escaped Mr. White and Dominic Greene, a dastardly sort of fellow. Gameplay is amped up and doesn’t always coincide with the events of the movies (though it should because this’d make one heck of a film).
Pick up your copy of the game right away at Amazon. It’s available for nearly every game platform for between $30-$65 depending on the platform.
3. Gears of War 2 – The talk of the gaming world, I have yet to play this game, but have heard so many good things about it from all of my gaming friends, I was told I’d be foolish not to include Gears of War 2 in my top 5 must have holiday games. The game is both tactical and is a third person shooter. I’m more into the first person shooters, but it’s hard to dispute the validity of one of the top ranked games of 2008 by fans and critics alike.
Gears of War 2 has the COG Delta Squad and Marcus Fenix taking the fight underground to the Locusts, who are able to sink entire cities at once. The battle is fierce with everything to lose and/or gain, depending on where the chips fall. The story is more engaging than its predecessor and there are bigger and badder battles with bigger, badder, weapons, enemies, and gameplay scenarios.
Available for Xbox 360, Gears of War 2 costs $60 at Amazon.
2. Call of Duty: World at War – This is another title we had the chance to review here at Gamerrazzi. You can check out the review of Call of Duty: World at War for a more detailed look into this intriguing game. I’ve played some really excellent games this year, for both review and fun (of course, reviewing IS fun). This is one I played for review and then went back to play for fun. It took a lot to make it to number two, but here it is, and it’s worth any money you’ll spend when buying this for the gamer in your family.
The story revolves around battles that actually took place in the Pacific and Eastern Europe during World War II. This is somewhat similar to Brothers in Arms, but it takes game play much further. It’s more immersive and far more engaging. If you love both history and first person shooters, this is the perfect game for you this holiday!
Buy a copy of Call of Duty: World at War for Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC for between $30-$60.
1. Fallout 3 – Hands down, the best game of 2008, you can expect a review of Fallout 3 up on Gamerrazzi right quick. This is one of the best, most beautifully executed video games I’ve ever played. The graphics, the story, and the gameplay make Fallout 3, the hands down winner, must have video game of the season.
You start out as a member of Vault 101 (Liam Neeson is your dad, how cool is that?!) and you grow from a toddler to an adult. When your father leaves the vault, you must escape or face death at the hands of the Vault Leader. You escape into a nuclear wasteland, outside Washington D.C. as you try to find your dad, and go on a bigger mission, to complete whatever it is he felt was so important that he had to leave the vault to do so. Battle funky animals, build your own weapons (teddy bear guns are cool!) and explore the wasteland on your journey.
To buy Fallout 3, head over to Amazon. It’s well worth the $60 you’ll spend.
Good Luck with your Holiday Shopping and here’s Wishing you an Excellent Holiday Season!
