A Little Bit of Information on “Golden Sun DS”

If you’re like me, you’re waiting to eat up any and all information about the new Golden Sun release by Nintendo. There was only the announcement that the game was going to be released at the E3 conference. Otherwise, Nintendo was quite mum about the title.

Well, we’ve found out a little bit more information about the game. The game is a lot cleaner, animation wise then the 2-D pixelated characters of the first two releases. That’s to be expected. However, if the action is split across the two screens, as shown in the trailer, I’m not sure how down I am with that.

The big news is that you won’t be playing as Isaac, Sheba, Jenna, Felix, Garet, Mia or any of the other, primary characters from the first two Golden Sun releases. Nintendo has announced you will play as the descendants of these characters. I’m a bit disappointed by this as it would have been nice to see what the old gang is up to. IMO it’s kind of like playing a “Legend of Zelda” game as the descendant of Link.

The good news is that the story takes place in Weyard. The music seems to be along the same vein as that in the first two games. The world design also looks remarkably similar. If the game is good and it resembles the old world, I guess I can look past the descendants thing. Who am I kidding? I’ll be the first to get my copy of this game when it comes out.
