Ubisoft is a company near and dear to my heart. I work with Ubisoft on many of their titles as a reviewer, so I cannot wait to see what they have in store.
Joel McHale is here to help announce the latest games from Ubisoft. He is praising Ubisoft, which is one of the best gaming companies out there! I do have to agree!
He’s giving hints to what expect. Ubisoft is teaming up with a big time writer/director in Hollywood, but Joel doesn’t know who this is…yet. We’re sure to reveal that later in this live blogging article.
Downloadble content for “Assassin’s Creed 2″ and “Splinter Cell: Conviction” at launch.
It has just been announced that Ubisoft will be working with Stephen Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, and Peter Jackson. They’ll be working with them on Tintin from Paramount pictures.
Uplay is going to support Assassin’s Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction and other new Ubisoft titles. This allows players to access community based services where you can discuss strategies with other gamers and interact through the Ubisoft menu system.
Ubisoft plans to become a full entertainment provider. That’s pretty much what Microsoft has proven they are doing, too.
Red Steel is being released on Wii so players can experience the fights, first hand. This is slated for a December 2009 release.
Ubisoft is working on something that will allow the live world and environments in Assassin’s Creed to come to the big screen. Expect short movies, which are already in development.
James Cameron and Avatar
Tomorrow, Ubisoft will offer information about their exclusive partnership to develop something special for James Cameron’s movie, Avatar. Ubisoft has helped to develop some of the shots for the actual movie.
James Cameron has shown up to discuss Ubisoft’s plans. Avatar couldn’t be made when Cameron wrote it some 14 years ago. There wasn’t the technology available. Four years ago, he realized it was time to create the world of Pandora and all its characters.
Main character, Jake Sully (an avatar) goes to Pandora. He lives in his avatar state amongst the navi. The navi are humanoid like creatures who live on Pandora. Jake must choose between Earth and living amongst the navi. Despite being paralyzed on Earth, on Pandora, as an avatar, he can move.
The movie is released on December 18, 2009. One can only hope the game debuts around then!
Ubisoft is developing a game Cameron is proud of that will go hand in hand with the movie version of Avatar. Since the movie is in 3D, Ubisoft was encouraged to make the game in 3D, as well.
Cameron just played the game demo. It was amazing and it actually made him scared of a game for the first time ever. It’s available for those at E3 to demo during the next few days.
Wii and “Red Steel”
Wii motion plus is going to help Ubi take gaming to the next level. Red Steel is just the first title to offer ‘hands on’ gaming via the Wiimote. The “Red Steel” trailer is now being shown at E3.
We’re taking a closer look at “Red Steel” with a live Wii Demo. The direction of the Wiimote corresponds with the direction of the sword. The harder you slash the harder you hit. You must focus on moving, slashing and really get physically involved with this game. You can customize controls for more action.
“Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage” Announced
“Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage” returns to the Wii with more slopes and more fun than ever before.
“Academy of Champions: Football”
Pele has come to introduce the new football (soccer) game by Ubisoft, “Academy of Champions.” You can actually play as Pele, who has a funky little avatar. Pele is talking after a technical difficulty with the trailer. He’s talking about all the good things football has done for the world, from stopping wars to inspiring young people.
Pele is excited to be a part of the winning team with Ubisoft. This is a very cartoon-y game. It looks absolutely hilarious! You can do lifts, spins, jumps, body shots and all kinds of other crazy moves in “Academy of Champions: Football.”
Pele was really most interested in educating children from the game and through his experience with football. He wants to be a mentor to the kids who play this game.
“Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction”
“Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction” is finally debuting on the stage. This is the big one we’ve been waiting to see. Max Beland is here to discuss the game. He is changing the game play to make it faster, more fluid, and more dynamic. He also lets you use stealth to enhance your character. It isn’t forced on you or doesn’t slow you down. It makes gameplay better.
Sam Fisher is back in this wicked, highly realistic looking game trailer. This looks like a movie not a video game! If this isn’t the hottest game Ubi (or any game creator) is releasing at E3, it’s in the top 3!
This game is about Sam Fisher. He’s on a personal agenda. He’s left the agency. Sam is led to Malta to investigate his daughter’s death. He’s more brutal. There is better gameplay options. He can focus on his enemy through the last known position option. This lets him get to his enemy and destroy them silently.
What other game allows you to break someone’s face on a toilet? The game play for “Splinter Cell: Conviction” keeps you immersed in the game at all times. The game uses seemless transitions between environments. Each environment is built to give you the best tactical advantage. You can go through different entrances. You choose the way.
Sam is quick, agile and leathal, “the ultimate predator. The mark and execute lets you control the face of the game. You can mark an enemy and execute them. You can attract or flank enemies to surprise them. You can go into the shadows, but your enemies remain in the light.
