For all you casual gamers out there, Alawar is releasing a new hidden objects game, Magic Encyclopedia 3: Illusions. You can go to the Alawar website and try this game out before purchasing it. You’ll get to play the demo for one hour, which should be plenty of time to discover if the game is worth purchasing.

Here is what Alawar has to say about the game:

When Catherine, the central character of the Magic Encyclopedia series, receives word of an attack on the Magic Academy, she sets out to save her school from a fate worse than foreclosure. Players join her as she learns about The Illusionist, a wizard that’s changed the appearance of countless objects around the world and is gathering an unstoppable army.

To defeat her nemesis, Catherine will have to figure out how to see through his illusions and even switch back and forth between reality and deception to solve puzzles. Her journey will take her to China, Egypt and the deepest ocean as she appeases a war-hungry emperor, searches for Zeus’ trident and chases down The Illusionist in a race against time.

Key features include:

* Five captivating chapters of gameplay
* 25 eye-catching locations to explore
* Over two dozen puzzles to solve
* A variety of original mini-games
* Real-time object transformations

I checked out the free demo, which you can try for yourself by clicking here. This game isn’t going to be mind blowing when it comes to innovation (if you’ve played a hidden object game then you know what to expect from others). However, it does feature extremely colorful, well designed graphics and a few hours of mindless entertainment for the casual gaming fan. I recommend you at least check out the demo.

Ashtyn is definitely the casual gamer in the family. A game fan since she owned an Atari, Ashtyn can remember when her brother rigged the television so he wouldn't lose his Super Mario Bros. game. That is, until the power went out! A fan of all things Mario, Ashtyn is a Nintendo loyalist. She digs playing Mario-style RPG games, watching others play violent shooters (because she sucks at them), and playing casual PC games (like Wedding Dash and Cake Mania). As of now, she is into the Wii and Nintendo DS, though she's certain the games for PS3 and Xbox 360 are more appealing.

    This seems to be a cute game, maybe I will buy it for my cousin, can anyone tell me which age group this game is for? Thanks :)

    Hi Karen! I would think that older kids (over the age of 8) and teens would benefit from playing this game. Thanks!
