E3 2010: Ubisoft Press Conference Live Blog
Now it is time to find out what Ubisoft is offering at E3. We work a lot with Ubi, so we are really excited to see what is new from them.
5:01 PM PST – Unlike EA, Ubisoft started pretty much on time (as expected). The opening presentation has a lot of movement and colors. I’m waiting to find out what it is, but it looks pretty sweet. A guy is waving his hand at the screen and he is shooting his other hand, making this orb move around the screen and blow things up. This is a motion controlled game called Child of Eden.
5:08 PM PST – The Assassins are BACK! The trailer for the new Assassin’s Creed title looks brilliant. The game is called Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. The game is set to be released on November 16, 2010.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze is back! He is now a legend and he is being hunted by the templars. There are more extreme opportunities to fight. The demo shows a cannon sequence as an example. New moves and fighting sequences allow for more aggressive battles. There is a new nemesis for Ezio.
Gameplay takes players to Rome in 1503. There is also a multiplayer experience that allows you to battle others around the world.

5:22 PM PST – Shaun White is on stage to announce the latest game. This time, he’s off the slopes for Shaun White Skateboarding. Shaun was involved in nearly every step of the creation. Skateboarding is his passion. The demo shows skaters given quests. There are plenty of obstacles and the world changes to add obstacles. Players can make their own skate lines to enhance the environment. As you travel the city, you are bringing it back to life.
Shaun’s signature move, the Armadillo, is included. A 3D demo is available (does this mean the game will be available in 3D?).
5:33 PM PST – A new Laser Tag/Shooter hybrid game is available. It is called Battle Tag. It’s like laser tag, but it looks kind of lame. Joel McHale’s lame jokes didn’t help.
5:40 PM PST – The next demo is for a game that has a hook up to a finger. The first game is a breathing game. The game is called Innergy. It can be plugged in to a computer. It is a way to charge yourself up, giving you peace, calm and energy. This system supposedly boosts your immune system.
5:45 PM PST – Designers of games discuss how Kinect is changing the face of gaming. Two new Ubisoft titles for Kinect have been announced.
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved is one of those titles. The game recognizes your body dimensions. Your own self is put in the game. You can have a personal trainer help you. You can take a fitness class. You can also send and receive challenges to your friends. You can post your victories to social networking sites like Facebook. There are low impact and high intensity for every level of workout. Real fitness moves are combined with fun games to make workouts more enjoyable.
5:56 PM PST – Rabbids are here again! They are back in Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time. This means the Rabbids are reshaping history. This is available for Wii.
5:59 PM PST – Ghost Recon features new toys. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has a highly trained special ops unit. They are basically “ghosts” with a camouflage option that allows ghosts to disappear. You can basically sneak up on enemies and allows for close range combat. There are a lot of different angles and viewpoints to enhance battle sequences. This game looks hot!
It is available in 3D and has a four-person campaign mode.
6:09 PM PST – Ubisoft is hitting the streets again with Driver: San Francisco. John Tanner is back. The detective hunts down Jericho, his nemesis in the game. The game was inspired by 70s films that featured car chases. Tanner can shift into any other vehicle in the game. There are city views that go above buildings and view the entire city.
6:16 PM PST – Project Dust is available Spring 2011. It is a disaster style game. Not much else is known about it.
6:19 PM PST – Rayman is back with new artist renderings. This is a cartoon world designed by artists. This is Rayman: Origins.
6:23 PM PST – User-powered PC gaming zone,Maniaplanet is set to become the new PC gaming community. It allows you to create, play alone, with friends, or compete, use others’ creations. Questmania, Trackmania and Shootmania are all realms in Maniaplanet. Trackmania will beta Q4 2010. Shootmania will beta Q1 2011.
6:27 PM PST – Michael Jackson is now a part of Ubisoft, though it is unclear what he had to do with the gaming.
