Portal 2 E3 Demo Parts 4 and 5 Available!

Valve has just released videos of the E3 Demo of Portal 2. It was big news when Valve announced they were releasing Portal 2 on the PS3. It sent little ripple waves of shock through the online gaming communities of those who had heard condescending remarks about PS3 and Sony via Valve, but apparently, the company has had a change of heart, and is giving Sony a chance with Portal 2.

I can’t even describe what this game is. At my best guess, it is an action adventure puzzle type game, but it seems to be so much more than that. Valve has certainly created a game series like no other. To get an idea of what I am talking about, check out Parts 4 & 5 of the Portal 2 Game Demo, which Valve debuted at E3 2010.

These short demo videos show a game that, I think, looks pretty sweet. It has the perfect blend of casual and edginess to make both casual gamers and hardcore gamers into this.

Valve will be releasing Parts 6 & 7 of the Portal 2 Demo tomorrow, so stay tuned for more videos.

Portal 2 will be released sometime in 2011. Will you be playing?

Fable III Game Trailer

With all the excitement going on at E3 I was unable to share this trailer for Fable III before now. All I have to say is that this game looks amazing. This reminds me more of a movie trailer with all of the suspense and intrigue. The music for the trailer helps to set the mood of the game. It is suspenseful and epic all at the same time.

Fable III is slated for release on October 26th, 2010.

Resident Evil Revelations Trailer

When Nintendo had their press conference last week, they announced the brand new, handheld system, the 3DS. This game system would have multiple games from in house and 3rd party developers in time for its release. One of the games announced was Capcom’s Resident Evil Revelations. Not much else was said about the game, but Capcom has now released a trailer for it.

I can’t say I am in love with the graphics, but I am assuming it is because 1. it is on a handheld and 2. they will be enhanced and look differently once the 3D system is available for the game to be played on.

What do you think of this trailer and the new 3DS. Is it going to be worth it to upgrade from DSi?

E3 2010: Children of Eden Trailer

One of the trailers I did not get a chance to share when E3 actually was happening was for Ubisoft’s Children of Eden. The game was the opening highlight for the Ubisoft Press Conference. Though I do not usually go for the rhythm action style games, but perhaps it is the fact that with just the wave of a hand there is movement on screen that makes me like this game? I am not as impressed with Kinect as I would have liked, partly because the system seems more friendly to casual gaming and ignores the conventions of hardcore gaming and partly because I have physical limitations I worry will go against what Kinect is offering. Still, it is hard not to be entranced with a game like this.

Here is some interesting information about Children of Eden:

Ubisoft describes Child of Eden as a “multi-sensory shooter” where players embark on a journey through a “kaleidoscopic matrix” set to synchronized music.

The game features out of this world visuals. developed specifically by famed game designer, Tetsuya Mizuguchi.

Your goal is to fight a battle to save Project Lumi. This is a mission that will send players into Eden, to try and reproduce the human personality. Eden is where all human memories are kept. As the project was finishing, a mysterious virus plagues Eden. Players must save Eden from the virus and return it to harmony.

E3 2010: GoldenEye 007 for Wii Announced

Nintendo announced at their E3 2010 press conference that Activision will be developing GoldenEye 007, exclusively for the Wii. The game will be rated T for Teen, cost around $50 and be available sometime during the Holiday 2010 season. The game will feature Daniel Craig as 007, James Bond, as opposed to Pierce Brosnan, who was playing Bond at the time of GoldenEye‘s film release.

GoldenEye 007 is a First-Person Shooter (FPS), which offers multiple ways to complete every mission Bond must finish. This game was developed to allow for fans of the original GoldenEye Nintendo game, which was a popular title made available for the Nintendo 64 to enjoy the nostalgia of a new title, while using the technologies of today to enhance the original idea.

GoldenEye 007 will feature more than one multiplayer mode. One of those will be split screen play for localized multiplayer activity. Several Classic Bond Characters will be available in a multiplayer filled with at least 40 characters. There will also be an online mulitplayer mode, where gamers can participate in games of up to 8 players.

E3 2010: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Single Player Walkthrough

Ubisoft has graciously provided me with a video of the single player walkthrough for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood from E3 2010. The beginning of the walkthrough shows the opening sequence Ubisoft presented at their press conference earlier this week. In it, Ezio is interupted during personal/private time with his lady by the war raging outside, which comes into his home. He meets up with his uncle, who has him head off to the cannons.

In the single player campaign, Ezio can now ride horses through town and use weapons while on the horse. This is much more convenient then using horses just as a form of transportation between towns, which was how it worked in Assassin’s Creed II. Horses make game play much more interesting now that they have multiple purposes.

As you can see, the enemies are much more authentic in this sequel. They attack more freely, but Ezio also has more ease of use when it comes to his attacks. Overall, this looks to be a much better system and a much better game!

I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for the release of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood in November 2010.

E3 2010: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Multiplayer Walkthrough

I am most looking forward to multiplayer on Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. The multiplayer action already looks wicked. I cannot wait to take it for a test drive! That being said,I have a video of a multiplayer walkthrough that Ubisoft has so kindly provided. This video takes a look at the multiplayer game mode called “Wanted”.

You can play as a variety of different characters (these characters seem to be partially inspired by Commedia dell’arte – in particular Harlequin and the Doctor). You can check out artwork for the characters here. There are now just 8 characters you can play, but some of them include Harlequin, the Courtesan, the Prowler, the Executioner and the Doctor. Ubisoft may be developing more as the window to release comes closer.

Your mission, in “Wanted” is to seek out another and assassinate them. If you get caught, you will be hunted. If not you win the round, points, and get to seek out another player to assassinate. It looks like great fun!

Remember, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood comes out November 16, 2010.

E3 2010: Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Screenshots

The Castlevania franchise is almost as old as I am. Well, I have a few years on the game, but still, it is hard to believe this game franchise has almost been around for a quarter of a century. I’ve never really gotten into this series much, but any franchise that sees success after 23 years deserves mad props.

Fans of the series will be thrilled to know that the game offers a selection of new modes including a multiplayer option that features up to six other players on XBox Live Arcade. The details and screenshots have been made available through E3 and there is a playable demo for those who are currently at the convention.

The new map system in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair allows players to better utilize maps during quests. In fact, the entire quest map area is visible thanks to this brand new mapping system.

This 2D title has a Co-Op mode, which includes quests to find items and an inevitable Boss battle. It is similar to the Boss fighting modes of previous Castlevania titles. There is also a versus mode, where players can battle one another.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair offers the ability to play as multiple, recognizable characters from past releases of this game series. Multiple palettes are available so multiplayer games can be played with the same character.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is slated for release on XBLA July 28, 2010.

E3: Ubisoft Adds Six New Nintendo 3DS Titles to Lineup

The best thing about the announcement of Nintendo to offer a 3d handheld was that you won’t need to wear any glasses when playing the games. Keeping it as simple as possible was a good move on the part of Nintendo. Since the release of the news for the 3DS we’ve been hearing about game companies that are on the forefront of bringing the first games to store shelves. One of the first in line is going to be Ubisoft. In fact, they have six games in development that will be available in the early sale stages of the 3DS.

The following games are currently in development for Ubisoft.

Ashtyn is definitely the casual gamer in the family. A game fan since she owned an Atari, Ashtyn can remember when her brother rigged the television so he wouldn't lose his Super Mario Bros. game. E3 2010: Epic Games Bulletstorm Trailer

EA has some pretty good game offerings this year at E3. I have to say that EA and Ubi had better conferences, on the whole, than the big three did. Honestly, as much as we love the gadgets that enhance our gaming experience, what gamers truly care about the most is games. I feel like the big three focused more on how much they had sold (was anyone else sick of Sony pointing out their amounts sold and profits earned?) and the hardware, as opposed to the games. In the end, I was craving more from all of them. That’s why these gaming companies did better, in my ever so humble opinion.

The people behind Bulletstorm are People Can Fly, a company out of Warsaw, Poland (I love Poles, I’m 50% Polish American, by the way – not that you care). At the EA conference on Monday, I was touched by how much feeling these developers seemed to have about this game. They really wanted to make a good game, and it shows in the quality of what was presented at E3.

For those who do not know anything about Bulletstorm, let me give you just a little info on the game. Bulletstorm is (obviously) a FPS. The game takes place in a future setting. The story follows Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato. These two are members of a group of mercenaries called Dead Echo. However, when the men find out that their service to Dead Echo is being exploited for purposes that are the opposite of their job (protecting the confederation), they are betrayed by their own commander and are left to fend for themselves at the ends of the galaxy.

Gamers play as Grayson. It has been a few years since the two were exiled, and he is now a drunk pirate of space. When Grayson meets up with Ishi again, they decide to work together to take on the mutants and gangs of flesh eaters on the planet where they are stuck. The goal is to live and get off the planet to enact revenge on their commander. Grayson has at his disposal an insane arsenal of weapons and a bunch of combat moves that will allow for players to take on just about anything. Players will be rewarded for causing trouble through the skillshots gameplay system, allowing for character and weapon upgrades.

Epic Games and EA plan to release Bulletstorm on February 22, 2011, but as we all know, in the land of gaming, dates are bound to change. Either way, expect it sometime in early 2011.
