The 10 Biggest Events on My Weekend Comic Con List

Filed under: — Movie News, TV News, Video Game News

So, this time for Saturday and Sunday I am limiting myself to just ten things to talk about. Now if I was going, I am sure I would have a much longer list. I should mention though that I cut out a few things that I would have loved to see if there were scheduling difficulties with other panels or screenings. This list should do for now, though if you want to check out the entire schedule you can view Saturday’s or Sunday’s events list at the Comic Con site.

Saturday

12:00-1:00 Lost— Fans of the show will not want to miss this panel. Co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse will discuss season 4 of Lost, leading up to the season finale. They will answer your questions and maybe even offer up some surprises of their own. Hall H

1:15-2:00 Warner Bros.: Terminator Salvation— Check out the newest installment of The Terminator film franchise. Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. - Hall H

4:30-5:30 Marvel: Secret Invasion— Get your first look at what’s in store and what’s to come in the Marvel U when the dust settles. Guests include Joe Quesada, Greg Pak, Chris Gage, Chris Yost, Daniel Way, and others. Room 6A

5:30-7:00 Sony: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Quarantine, Pineapple Express

Underworld : Rise of the Lycans
The third film in the popular Underworld franchise delves into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires, known as Death Dealers, and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). A young Lycan, Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement. On stage to take your questions will be Rhona Mitra, Bill Nighy, Michael Sheen and director Patrick Tatopoulos. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is in theaters everywhere January 23, 2009.

Quarantine
Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles fire station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood-curdling screams and soon learn that a woman living there has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, Internet, television and cell phone access have been cut off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape. Quarantine opens in theaters everywhere October 17.

Ashtyn is definitely the casual gamer in the family. A game fan since she owned an Atari, Ashtyn can remember when her brother rigged the television so he wouldn’t lose his Super Mario Bros. game. That is, until the power went out! A fan of all things Mario, Ashtyn is a Nintendo loyalist. She digs playing Mario-style RPG games, watching others play violent shooters (because she sucks at them), and playing casual PC games (like Wedding Dash and Cake Mania). As of now, she is into the Wii and Nintendo DS, though she’s certain the games for PS3 and Xbox 360 are more appealing.

The Bravo Awards - The Gay, The Fat & The Weird

This year’s Bravo Awards were hosted by Kathy Griffin. The less than liked comedian did at least one, semi-humorous skit and had plenty to say during her stint. Here are some of the most, off-the-wall shots from the festivities.

Tila Tequila

And the Award goes to Sluttiest Bitch on TV!
I didn’t watch the awards, but yeah this looks like Tila won some award. I’m not sure of the purpose of the Bravo awards, but I always thought they were given to the winner of the best shows on Bravo. Either way, I can only imagine what this hooch won! Hooker of the year maybe?

The MTV Movie Awards - Downright Weird

Okay, so I gave you pictures of the best and worst of the awards, but then I found pictures feature things happening that are just downright weird. For your entertainment, I give you the weirdness (or is it weirdest?) of the MTV Movie Awards:

Dana Carvey

Dana Carvey is pregnant?!
Seriously, look at that baby bump! It’s bigger than the one on Nicole Kidman! I don’t mean to brag, but I think I’m going to be the first to report on the “expecting” Daddy! Good luck with the delivery Dana. We hear birth can be rather painful!

The Best and Worst of the MTV Movie Awards

Am I the only person that had no clue this was going to be on last night? Not that it particularly matters because I probably would have continued watching Ninja Warrior and left this post the way it is going to be. I have a sick fascination with that show, but that’s for another post. This is all about those who turned up last night for the awards. Here are some of the highlights.

Anna Faris and Gang

One out of four, is better than none
Well we all know that Rumer is fugly, I can’t get over the Demi hair with the Bruce body, and it’s just too creepy for me. The girl next to her is having some fashion issues with that print dress and then there is Katherine McPhee. Is it just me or does she have this, “I am totally a star” look on her face? Anyway, at least Anna looks cute, for the most part.

American Idol Recap: The Top 7 Compete to Mimi

Filed under: — Music News, Reality Stars, TV News

MariahThis week there are seven contestants left in the AI bunch. Last week offered the shocking removal of Michael Johns from the pack. This was disappointed because he was far more talented than some of the others that have been left on the stage to continue to compete. Tonight, the remaining seven will be singing Mariah Carey songs.

Ryan Seacrest mentioned that everyone was still shocked by Michael Johns leaving and the crowd booed. Obviously they were as disappointed with his removal as I was. He mentioned it just to remind everyone how important it was to vote. I have to admit, this reminded me of when Daughtry was kicked. Now he’s one of the best selling Idols in history. I think Michael Johns will end up meeting a similar fate and I definitely look forward to getting my hands on a CD with his name on it.

When Seacrest announced the judges, they went through the line, one by one, as always. Randy was shown in a shirt we’ve seen before, Paula was looking perky in purple, and Simon was doing his natural thing. I have to admit, I have been looking forward to this week. Due to the fact that there are so many men in the competition, I imagined that it would be quite amusing to see what they did with these songs.

Mariah just managed to be scheduled the week of her CD release E=Mc2. She mentioned that she didn’t like judging people and told the Idols to look at her like she was just a new friend. Yeah, that shouldn’t be a problem, at all. Randy says that he hopes they do not try to sound like Mariah tonight. Paula deffered to Randy’s comment. Simon said tonight is make or break for Randy.

I’d Rather Die of a Freak Accident

Paris Hilton looks uglyWhen I think of becoming Paris (Crotch Rocket) Hilton’s best friend it makes me want to vomit a little in my mouth. Once I’ve cleaned that up, I have to consider how many other things I would rather have happen to me instead. For example, I would rather be anally invaded by the nose of a jet than have to be seen with Hilton.

However, the idea that there is going to be an entire show around this concept just frightens me. In some ways it makes me laugh. I Wanna Be Paris’ New Best Friend! will premiere on MTV. According to the page “Paris is looking for a new pal….and she’s got her eye on you! Sign up as a hopeful and you could be living the life with the posh princess herself!”

Rather than laugh at the irony that someone so in love with herself has to stoop to reality television to find a friend, let’s instead look at the top contenders in the competition thus far.

Number 5: Chuck Love
He’s a 23 year old from Philly. He lists his similarities to Paris as being, “First I enjoy being in the public eye. Next, I am approached to take pictures with random people on a daily basis. Finally, I love to have fun and party.” He’s also 3 ½ feet tall. She might like this fact though. We’ve all heard how she treats little people and animals. Maybe she would ask to carry him in her purse during events where she couldn’t bring her dog.

American Idol Recap: Top 16 - The Top Eight Ladies

American Idol Top 8 Girls

Ryan introduced the final eight ladies tonight and with a nod to the judges he would be about ready to start the show. It’s the top 16 this week, which means tonight is the top 8 women and the last week before things become co-ed. When he introduced the judges it appeared that everyone was ready to get things moving.

Randy was pimpin’ in a v-neck and a white t-shirt. He said the guys were hot so the girls better bring it. Paula looked like her usual, drunk self in a designer shirt, with a funky weave bun. Paula said she hopes the girls pick the right song. The hair of the 80s was cool. Simon looked like his normal self in a black t-shirt. He said no one is safe.

Like last night for the guys, tonight’s theme was 80s music. Each contestant had to tell about their most embarrassing moment.

Up first was Asia’h Epperson. Her embarrassing story involved her being an extra on a movie. Basically, she had to roller skate, and she hadn’t in a long time. So, she ran into the set light and fell on her butt. They had to break because she messed up the light.

What she sang: “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”

What she wore: A pink tank top (silk) and some purple pants - her hair looks cute and she had jewelry on

How she sounded: She isn’t Whitney. She has a nice voice, but the song is too big for her. Still, she wasn’t horrible. She can sing. It’s hard to compare to Whitney, especially when doing the song just like Whitney did. Overall, not as bad as the start to last night.

American Idol Top 24 Who Went Home

Filed under: — Music News, Reality Stars, TV News

Carly SmithsonThe results show wasn’t too exciting tonight. Like most people, I really only watch to see who would get kicked off. After what seemed like a year of watching the recaps for the guy performances and listening to stupid comments by Paula about colors, we finally got down to some results.

Garrett was the first to be going home. When they announced it Danny was shown looking in the camera with absolute fear. I don’t know what he’s worried about though. Being that he is Vote for the Worst’s poster boy, he should be fine. Garrett sang the song he sang from the other day. He’s not horrible he’s just not as good or as memorable as some of the others at this stage.

After a break, they decided to send one of the girls home. They showed the performances of the ladies just like they did with the men before. After this they will be sending home another male and female from the bunch. This time around Kristy was called up though it was a distraction. Vote for the Worst’s female favorite, Amy Davis was the first to be voted off. Looks like the guys over there will have to hook up with a new female for the masses to vote for next week.

Recap: American Idol - Top 24’s Top 12 Women

Americal IdolTonight the top 12 women of American Idol’s Top 24 were performing for the first time on the AI stage. After showing a brief “reminder” of how it all went down (aka how they made it to the Top 24), it was time for the women to hit the stage. This is a recap of what they sang, how they looked, and how they did. Predictions of who should be (and will be) cut are included.

Ryan started the show off by rambling about how bad this cold and flu season is and how some of the girls are actually sick, but planning to try and do their best.

The Judges: Randy was his normal self in a trendy bling-wear sweater ensemble. Paula wore an outfit that was black and white. It was fairly plain for her, but, as usual, Paula looked high, so it’s all good. Her advice for the show…brings the vocals. I can’t help but wonder if she thinks this is the chicken rodeo again. What else are they supposed to bring?! Meanwhile, Simon looked like always and mentioned that he loved when the crappy singers spar with him over his opinion.

According to Ryan, tonight’s songs, just like the night before, are all from the 60s.

Up first is Kristy Lee Cook. Kristy sold her horse to try out for AI. She is known for “Amazing Grace”, but not much else at this point. Tonight we will find out if she’s capable of more or will be leaving quickly.

What she wore: Gold tank top and jeans with some fashion rips and a belt. Her hair looked nice, but it wasn’t singing, so she doesn’t really get points for that.

What she sang: “Rescue Me”
